SWITZER Differential Pressure Switch

Differential Pressure Switch – Series IPSD / RT 260 / RT 262 / RT 265:
INDFOS RT 260 (DPSM) / INDFOS IPSD series Differential Pressure Switch utilises seamless bellows as the sensing element. Simplicity of design and ease of installation has been stressed for reliable use, even in applications where shock and vibrations are present. The sensing element can be used for a variety of process fluids. RT Series have an excellent record for more than five decades backed by our responsive manufacturing facility. Applications include pumps, compressors, filters, evaporators, heat exchangers, lubrication systems, hydraulic systems, marine equipment, heating and air conditioning equipment, turbines, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Differential pressure switches monitor the difference between two pressures (high and low).
Some typical applications where these switches are used are
a) Monitoring clogging in filters to ensure proper filtration efficiency
b) Monitoring the performance of Air Fans/Blowers to maintain pressure and air flow in HVAC systems.
c) As a safety device on pressure lubricated refrigeration compressors, where under any operating conditions the lubricating oil pressure has to be kept higher than the suction pressure or crankcase pressure.
Pressure switches have a single pressure connection where the media who’s pressure is to be monitored is connected. When the pressure rises above the set point the pressure switch gives an electrical signal.
Whereas differential pressure switches have two pressure connections. One connection is for high pressure and the other for low pressure. These switches monitor the difference between the pressure connected at the two ports (High and Low) and provide a signal when the set point is reached.
Some important factors to consider when selecting a differential pressure switch are
a) Media
b) Max static pressure & temperature
c) DP range
d) Micro Switch and current rating
e) Process Connection and Electrical Entry

Differential pressure switches can used to sensor and monitor pressure difference before and after devices like air filters or fans. By monitoring this difference the proper air pressure and flow can be maintained in the HVAC system.
